Nikon Riflehunter 1000

After a long wait the Nikon Riflehunter 1000 is just now becoming widely available to the public. Nikon has long been known for producing excellent rangefinders and optics of all sort for that matter. This new unit has a silver housing and black trim around the edges and buttons. The Nikon Riflehunter 1000 utilizes Nikon's Incline/Decline technology that takes into account the angle of the target and then gives the operator a more exact measurement to the target than a standard mode rangefinder. Angle compensation features like this have caught on with archery hunters that hunt from stands placed high in trees and also gun hunters that hunt extremely rough terrain.

New for the Nikon Riflehunter 1000 rangefinder is a reticle (crosshair) that can change color according to the current lighting condition. This is a very important factor because being able to see your reticle and yardage readout under poor or dark lighting conditions has been a common problem for years among hunting rangefinders.

Nikon's Riflehunter 1000 as the name implies will read highly reflective objects out to 1000 yards under ideal conditions. What is distinct about this unit is that it will report the range in.1 yard increments, which is getting pretty precise for a hunting type rangefinder that cost around $350. This device is also quite compact measuring 4.6 x 1.6 x 2.9 and should have no problem finding a way into a coat pocket or hunting pack.

This range finder also features a 6x magnification, which is a good choice for an all around, do everything range finder. A 6x magnification still allows archery hunters enough field of view to see game at close distance, but also allows for precise aiming at game several hundred yards away when hunting with a rifle. While archery hunters might prefer 4x for most situations, and long range varmint hunters 8x for their work, the 6x is a great choice for a rangefinder that will be pulling double duty.

Nikon has been making the Riflehunter series of rangefinders for several years now in a shorter yardage version the Riflehunter 550; this is currently one of the most popular and most liked rangefinders currently available, so with its new features, compact size and predecessors reputation the Nikon Riflehunter 1000 should be one fantastic rangefinder.
