Phi Mickelson, better known to most golf fans simply as "Lefty," has won three major championships and a total of 33 PGA Tour events in his career. He's been ranked #2 in the world multiple times.
Mickelson was born in 1970 and spent most of his early years living in San Diego and Arizona. While naturally right-handed, Phil learned to swing a golf club with his left hand by watching his father.
Phil graduated from Arizona State in 1992 after winning an amazing three NCAA individual golf championships and three Haskins Awards. Phil also became the very first left-haned golfer to win the U.S. Amateur Title.
His successful amateur career will never be questioned but until his first major championship victory (the 2004 Masters) Phil developed a reputation as the best golfer to never win a Major.
