Frequently Asked Questions...

What Quality Golf Iron Set for Beginners? Callaway/Taylor Made?

I'm looking for a beginners Iron set. I don't want to buy a super cheap set so that I don't have to buy a new set after 1 or 2 years. I'm also not looking for a expensive set since I am just a beginner and don't have to run arround with a pro set but can't play that good.
I searched the web for some reviews or some test but it was hard to find something trustable.
So far I'm considering these 2 sets:

Callaway x22
Taylor Made Burner Super Launch

Would be happy if someone could tell me if those are good beginner sets and I also would like to know what the main difference for all those Taylor made Burner Irons is. There is Burner 2.0 ,Burner, Burner Super Launch Rescure Iron, Burner Super Launch and Burner Plus.

Answer:

Great beginner set, I'd recommend going to your local Costco or Costco.com they have off the shelf, stock TaylorMade R7 XD (draw club to minimize slicing) Regular Flex and Stiff Flex available. It's a complete golf set: Driver 10.5 degree, 5wood, 3wood, 4hybrid and 5Iron-SW, 4 headcovers. No putter, no bag. All for 599.99 and they ship free. This might look like spam, but I'm just another golfer hanging out on Y/A,s and know a good deal when I see one. Check it out. As far as Callaway vs TaylorMade, both well made, forgiving clubs with high and medium handicappers in mind. Can't go wrong, can also try Ping and Nike. If you have not demoed these clubs, go to a golf superstore in your area, free demo's in store are available on all clubs. Most of the differences within TM or Callaway are more just different appearances, they all play virtually the same.
Test em' out before you shell out the cash. You are not obligated to buy them there, despite use of the demo cage. You might be more pleased with a particular feel.
