The goal of our X-Series Irons has always been lofty: Set the performance standard for the industry. We've done it again with the X-22 Irons, the best X-Series Irons we've ever made. The perimeter weighting of the X-22s has been maximized for a moment of inertia (MOI) that's 10 percent higher than their predecessors, meaning you get more forgiveness on off-center strikes. Precision Notch Weighting

What are the best irons for my skill level?
I shoot in the mid to low 90s and am getting increasingly better. By the end of summer I might be able to break 90. I am looking for a new custom fit set to improve my score for high school next year. I've been looking into the Diablo Edge and Callaway X-22 and 24. Also the Taylormade Burners and r9s. Price isn't that much of an issue, but would like to keep lower if possible. I hit a 7 iron 145-150 PW 115. I use a regular shaft, almost need a stiff though.... Anyway thanks for the help!
Also, how much of a difference would graphite shafts make instead of steel?

Hey Matt, I think all the clubs you have mentioned are within your capabilities, it's more a matter of trying them and deciding what feels, looks and works better for you. I would stick with a regular flex as a freshman, one of the biggest problems with young golfers is this mind set to swing the club with all your might...yeah it might get you some distance, but that doesn't do any good when you've got penalty shot after penalty shot added up. So control your swing speed and stay in the fairway, Greens in Regulation and a two putt...keep it simple. The more control you have with your swing the straighter your ball....fairway magnet, don't give into testosterone. As far as irons, like I said all above, can also add Ping G10, G15, Cleveland as mentioned and Nike...all very reputable names, forgiving, and suited to your handicap, as stated spend some time at a golf store...demo the products, take an hour if needed and see what works for you...some stores will also give you a 30 day refund period, perhaps less 10% depending on wear. Take some time to see for yourself...to each his own..it's all about feel and comfort, aesthetics plays a part as well.
